It is actually interesting to know about the history of this temple. The present day area on which temple is constructed was bought from the donated money by Ardishri Rustampur of Hyderabad. The Ardishri donated his life-savings for the construction of this temple in 1953. After many years in 1976 the Iranian architect Fariborz Sabha was approached to prepare the blue print of this spectacular design. Once the designed prepared a UK based construction company was approached for the construction. The temple is first of its kind to use the solar power and 120 KW on daily basis.

2. Architecture of Lotus Temple
The beautiful architecture of the temple is a major attraction point of the city and it was designed by the Iranian Architect Fariborz Sahba. It is built in the form of Lotus. Why lotus only? The temple is having 9 sides which are formed by 27 marble petals in the shape of lotus leaves. All these petals are arranged in the group of three. All these nine doors lead you to the central prayer hall that is the sanctum of the temple which can occupies more than 2500 people at once. Floor is made up of marble, which is brought from Greece. The temple is located at Kalka ji road near Shambhu Dayal Bagh in Delhi. Travellers/ Visitors can visit this temple from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM in winter and from 9 Am to 7 PM in winters. The temple remains close on Monday and opens from Tuesday to Sunday.
