He is an American music critic and has been one of the staff of ‘The New Yorker’ magazine since 1996. Alex has also written for The New Republic, State, The London Review of Books, Fanfare and Freed. For The New Yorker, for the first time he wrote in 1993 and later became a staff member in 1996. He is also the author of two books, ‘The Rest Is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century’(2007) and ‘Listen to This’ (2010). The Rest is Noise received widespread critical praise in U.S. Ross also received awards such as Mac Aurther Fellowship, ASCAP Deems Taylor. In 2016 he was awarded with Champion of New Music award.
