A. The Durgadi Fort

Shah Jahan began the construction of the fort while it was completed during the reign of Auranzeb, his son in 1694 AD. The wall of the fort is stretches to more than 2000 yards and is guarded by 4 gates and 11 towers. During the Maratha reign a new gate was formed which open near house of Peshwa’s Governor. They also built a small temple in fort’s citadel which is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Thus named this fort Durgadi Qila in honor of the Goddess and it is believed that the original idol of Goddess Durga was stolen from the temple in 1876 AD.
