Overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake, Monsoon Palace is a 18th century wonder which was used to serve as the summer resort of the Maharajas of the bygone era. The fort has derived by its rulers Maharana Sajjan Singh in the year 1884. From the main city of Udaipur, the fort lies about 5 km from the city. The fort was built as observatory which allows people to watch monsoon clouds approaching the nearby areas and therefore the palace is often called Monsoon Palace.
