1-Raisen Fort

This vintage fort was built around 1200AD and is located approx. 23km away from the city center. This fort stands tall on a hilltop near Sanchi, it has protected and served many dynasties. It had faced almost 14 attacks from the enemy armies and yet it stands there unharmed and headstrong. This fort has witnessed fierce battles, heard the war cries of brave soldiers, and seen the females commit Jauhar’s. The ruins of this fort consist of temples, forts, and palaces, along with a 15th century-old cannon. This fort has a lot more to offer and if you love trekking, are an adventure seeker, or are a history lover at heart, this fort is surrounded by activities to keep you busy.

2-Bhimbetka Caves

A UNESCO World Heritage site, located on the foothills of the Vindhya range this place is a must-visit site. It was unintentionally or say accidentally discovered by an archaeologist in1957-1958 when he was casually walking around the area. Although there are approx. 600 natural shelters in this area are hidden behind the nature that surrounds it. 12 are open for the public and marked cautiously so that visitors do not get lost. These caves are filled to the brim with ancient rock paintings. These paintings give us a piece of in-depth knowledge about the development of humans. Even after approx. 30,000 years these paintings are in a good condition.  The amazing feature of these paintings is that they are made of vibrant colors like red, yellow, green, and white. During cavemen years too people had their ways of making colors using natural resources such as flowers, leaves, vegetables, and red sandstone.
