History
The Museum was formed on October 1, 1929, to collect and preserve artefacts discovered in the old Holkar State's territory. The Central Museum of Indore, also known as the Indore Museum, was founded in the year 1929 at the famed Nar-Ratna Mandir in October. The museum moved to a new location in 1969, next to the "Residency Kothi." The Antiquity Gallery, the Hinglajgarh Art Gallery, the Inscription Gallery, the Malwa Art Gallery, the Numismatic Gallery, the Arms Gallery, and the Gallery of Modern Art are the six galleries that make up the Central Museum.
Architecture
The Indore Museum, which is known for some of its greatest architectural designs, houses a large collection of Palmer Scriptures. The Palmer texts were a historic architectural style that developed in this area. It is one of the outstanding collections of Parmar art and architecture reflecting the Hinglajgarh School, which was founded in this region. The most notable architectural relic at the museum is a door frame, which is beautifully embellished with figures and decor.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Central Museum Indore boasts one of the greatest collections of mediaeval and pre-medieval Hindu and Jain sculpture.
