History
This shrine was established in 1735 by the Holkar dynasty's empress Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, who salvaged the Ganesha statue out of a well where it was being concealed to protect it from Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb. The worshippers form a ring all around the shrine and bind a string to worship Lord Ganesha for the fulfillment of their wishes. Pandit Mangal Bhatt, a local priest, is reported to have seen the antique idol of the shrine in his vision. The Bhatt family continues to run the sanctum.
Architecture
The temple has grown from a small dome-like structure to a massively intricate building throughout the years. The shrine is well-known both in India and abroad. Charitable contributions of money, gems, diamonds, as well as other costly items are often made to the shrine. The Garbhagriha's entrance and other subsequent sections are all made of silver, and it depicts various emotions and festivities. The deity's pupils are composed of diamonds that were presented by an Indore industrialist. It is presently under the administration of Indore's DM, and priests are paid regularly. Around the shrine, there has been a lot of progress.
