Ooty Lake is a man-made lake that was established in 1824 by John Sullivan. Because there were so many water streams, the water running down the mountains was dammed up, forming a lake. The lake was built to be utilized for fishing, and ferries were used to cross it. It gradually shrank in size, allowing for the creation of the bus stand racecourse and the lake park that we see today. The lake was taken over by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in 1973 on behalf of the Tourism Department, to provide boating facilities for visiting visitors as a tourist attraction.

• The Wax World Museum in Ooty is a fantastic location to visit and is undoubtedly one of Ooty's must-see attractions. It is located 2 kilometers from Ooty city and is near the Ooty Lake. One may have fun while learning a lot of knowledge in this place, especially for children who are enthralled by the wax statues that are on display. This Museum World in Ooty is housed in a 130-year-old Colonial Mansion. Inside the wax museum, there are various look-alike wax statues of prominent figures from Indian history, culture, and heritage.
• When you think about Ooty, one of the first things that come to mind is horseback riding. Horseback riding in Ooty is enjoyable and offers a unique experience. You will be assigned a separate guide for the activity, but you may also go it alone and have a wonderful time. You can also take a horseback ride through Ooty or Pykara Lakes.
• Finally, you can take the rowboats and pedal boats for rent and enjoy your time floating around Ooty Lake.

Ooty Lake has a pleasant climate throughout the year due to its location. Ooty's winters are substantially colder than the rest of South India. The greatest time to visit the area is between October and June, when the temperature is moderate, around 25 degrees Celsius, and the weather is ideal for sightseeing.

• Nilgiri Mountain Railway: The Ooty Railway Station is only around 2 kilometers from the lake on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway. You may book the famous toy train trip there. It runs between Ooty and Mettupalayam, and a one-side journey of 46 kilometers takes about 5 hours. The train will take you on a scenic excursion through the Nilgiri Mountains and the valley below.
• Deer Park: Deer Park is a well-kept green space located around 3 kilometers from the lake. You'll see a wide range of vegetation and fauna, not just deer species. Hares, rabbits, and numerous birds coexist peacefully in the park alongside Sambhar, Chital, and colorful flowers.
• Rose Garden: The environment of Ooty allows roses to have a long flowering season, and the Ooty Rose Garden has several unique and exotic species of roses. These roses, which have been collected from all over the world, come in a variety of colors and can be seen throughout the area. The distance between Ooty Lake and Rose Garden is merely about 5 kilometers.
• Botanical Gardens: It's a lovely state-run garden located approximately 2 kilometers from the Rose Garden on the road from Ooty Lake to Doddabetta Peak. It covers 55 acres and features lawns and gardens with a variety of aromatic and flowering shrubs. There are also greenhouses with exotic plants in the garden.
• Wax World Museum: The Wax World Museum is a kilometer away from the Botanical Garden. Apart from being a tourist attraction, it can also be an educational experience for children. The building's main hall is adorned with lifelike wax figures of prominent Indian celebrities. It also includes a wax model depiction of day-to-day activities.
