Only a km away from the Fatehpur railway station, Jodha Bai Ka Rauza ( Jodha Bai’s Palace ) is one of the largest buildings inside the Sikri Fort. Jodha Bai was a Rajput princess and the most beloved wife of the emperor Akbar. The construction of Jodha Bai Ka Rauza in Agra shows the love of Akbar towards Jodha Bai.

Akbar after conquering Malwa faced very strong resistance from the Rajputs. Akbar who chose diplomacy over confrontation formed alliances with the Rajput kings, which allowed the kings to rule their lands while supporting Akbar. To make the alliances stronger, Akbar married the various Rajput princess. Jodha Bai who was the sister of Man Singh, the powerful king of Jaipur also got married to Akbar. Jodha Bai became the favorite Queen of Akbar and she was allowed to perform her religious rituals inside her palace. 

Jodha Bai Ka Rauza in Agra flaunts the exemplary fusion of Muslim and Hindu architectures. Distinct Rajasthani and Gujrati architectural patterns can easily be witnessed. This beautiful palace consists of two storeys and the gate faces towards the south. The Palace building is constructed in a rectangular block and the whole palace was heavily guarded.

As per some historians, Akbar himself took part in the construction and decoration process of the Jodha Bai Palace, which is also called Jodha Akbar real Mahal. Hindu motifs such as lotus, swastika marks, and elephants were used in the interior decoration of the palace.

History

Hindu motifs such as lotus, swastika marks, and elephants were used in the interior decoration of the palace. The main structure of this palace has chhatris, semicircular domes, and pillars with wall brackets.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
