History
Kamarpukur Kolkata was a bustling community surrounded by lush agricultural fields. It was as if I were on a floating island field surrounded by greenery. There were also several modest cottage industries and temples here. After Sri Ramakrishna Pramhansa's birth, many of his followers and disciples came to see him, and this location gradually became renowned and visited.
Sweetmeats like jilapi and nabat, ebony hookah pipes, yarns, towels, and linen, among other things, were prepared here and sold in Kolkata and adjacent marketplaces. To this day, Kamarpukur reverberates with music during the worship of Goddess Manasa and the Shiva festival in the month of Chaitra (March—April), and devotional choral melodies of Hari are sung for three days in the following month.
