History

One of the most ancient temples, the Mata Lal Devi temple was built in memory of Pujya Mata Ji. She was born on 21st February 1923 in Lahore, Punjab, present-day Pakistan. She was born in a Marwaha Khatri Family, who has their own business. Soon after the birth of their 4th daughter, the family went to the Chintpurani temple located in Himachal Pradesh. On reaching the temple, it is believed that Pujya Mata Ji was enlightened by the holy spirit of the deity Chintpurani. The priest of the temple predicted that this girl child is not an ordinary one, and declared that she possesses heavenly powers.

While the family members were in for a sweet shock, and could not believe their ears, having experienced so many miracles of Pujya Mata Ji’s power, the family started to regard Pujya Mata Ji as a saintly mother. During the partition conflict, Mata Ji chose to stay in Amritsar for her journey ahead.
