History
The National War Museum in Pune is also known as the Southern Command National War Memorial. It was inaugurated and opened to the public on August 15, 1998, at Ghorpadi. The major goal of this installation was to honor the Bravehearts who, without hesitation, placed their lives on the line for their nation. This war memorial is unique because it is run solely by volunteers. It covers the Southern Command's whole history, as well as the evolution of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and the country's southern regions. This museum is associated with regional heroes such as Shivaji, Balaji Rao, Tipu Sultan, and Jijabai. Their statues can also be found, as well as pictures of their rich history from that time period can be witnessed here.
Architecture
The National War Museum sits on a quarter-acre of land and is surrounded by majestic pillars. The military keeps the museum immaculately clean and well-maintained. The Pune Cantonment Board donated a whopping INR 32,00,000 for the National War Museum's refurbishment and upkeep.
