The Partition Museum Amritsar includes a plethora of stories, memoirs, art, and relics that commemorate the period before, during, and after British India's partition. The museum, which is located at the Town Hall in Amritsar and was established by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT), is a component of Amritsar's recently launched Heritage Street, which runs from the Golden Temple to the Town Hall. The partition museum timings are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Newspaper clippings, photographs, and personal objects contributed by those who observed and lived through the Partition are among the exhibits at the Partition Museum. The Partition Museum will be a world-class physical museum dedicated to the memory of the subcontinent's partition in 1947, according to TAACHT. The museum is largely dedicated to the victims and survivors, as well as their lasting legacy. The partition Museum Amritsar entry fees are INR 10 for Indians and INR 250 for Foreigners.

History


Sukhbir Badal, the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, opened the Partition Museum on October 24, 2016. On the occasion of the inauguration, there was also a curtain-raiser display. On November 1, 2016, which was also Punjab Day, the Honourable Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley, and the Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, paid a visit to the museum. Ms. Harsimrat Kaur Badal was among the Union Ministers who accompanied him.

TAACHT, the non-profit organization that worked tirelessly to establish the Partition Museum, is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that operates solely on contributions and the help of volunteers and well-wishers. The Partition Museum's second and last part opened on August 17th, 2017.

Architecture


The Museum is located at the beginning of Amritsar's history street, a 5-minute walk from the Golden Temple, and is housed in the historic Town Hall structure, which was built in 1870 by architect John Gordon. The court of small causes, city police headquarters, municipal offices, a free library, and a meeting room were all housed in this structure.

The greatest time to visit is the winter season (October to January) is the best time to visit the Partition Museum since the weather is chilly and pleasant, and you can enjoy your visit.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
