Later, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq captured it in 1328. After that this fort was handed to Shahji Bhosale who was a commander under the Adilshahi of Ibrahim Adil Shah I.
During this period, Shivaji the son of Shahji took an oath to establish the swarajya. He convinced the Siddhi Ambar another commander of Adilshahi to manage and safeguard the Sinhagad fort and then he took over the fort. Adil Shah captured the Shahji Bhosale and Siddhi Amber and imprisoned them. Later Shivaji handed over the fort to get his father released. After seven years, Shivaji Maharaj won the fort and established it as the seat of the Maratha empire.
