History
Bhimtal Lake is named after Bhima, a mythological character in the epic Mahabharata, situated in the hills of Kumaon. The presence of Bhimeshwar Temple makes the town religiously important. The Bhimeshwar Mahadev Temple located on the banks of Bhimtal Lake is believed to be built when the Bhima, who visited during the Pandavas’ exile. In the 17th century the king of Kumaon, Raja Baz Bahadur Chand built this present temple.

Best time to visit
You can visit Nainital throughout the year except the May month. During May the temperature gets too hot and humid which will make your excursion a little hectic.
