History
The city of Jaipur is blessed with a rich history, and one of the most important historical places in Jaipur is Govind Dev Ji Temple. Lord Govind Dev Ji, one of the many forms of Lord Krishna is the main deity of the temple alongside his companion, Radha Ji. Govind Dev Ji is also the main deity of the Kachwahs rulers of Jaipur. In the beginning, the idol of the Govind Dev Ji was worshipped in the Holy city of Vrindavan.
Srila Rupa Goswami one of the disciples of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had originally excavated the idol of Govind Dev Ji from Gome Teela (hill) some 450 years ago.
When the Kachwaha ruler of Aamer of that time Maharaja Maan Singh Ji alongside Mughal Emperor Akbar came to know about the existence of the idol, they built a huge temple in 1590 A.D.
The Redstone which was used to build the temple was originally intended to use in the construction of the Agra Fort, but the Mughal Emperor Akbar decided to donate the stone for the temple. 135 acres of land for livestock and feed was also donated by the Emperor. Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur’s history is as glorious and magnificent as Lord Krishna himself.
Architecture
The beautiful Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur is built in marble and sandstone, it has a ceiling that is covered with gold. The stunning architecture of the temple has a mix of Muslim, Rajasthani, and Classical Indian elements. The walls of the temple are decorated with paintings and chandeliers.
Activities
Devotees can take part in the Aartis that take place seven times a day, as per their time of visit. The atheist can either take part in the Aarti or they can simply enjoy the architecture of the temple. Prashad ( sacred food ) offered at the temple is a must. The temple structure has some of the finest detailed artistic work that can be adored by simply taking a glimpse at it. Pictures can also be clicked there. Nice and well-maintained gardens are also present in Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur. The complex is surrounded by many more temples that can be visited while you stroll around the area of the temple. Beware of the monkeys and bats which can be easily spotted in some areas of the gardens.

- Visitors are very fortunate to have a choice to attend the Aarti that takes place seven times a day.
- Alcohol or non-veg food items are completely banned inside the Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur premises.
- Footwear of any kind must be removed before entering the main structure.
- No dress code is provided by the temple authorities to follow.
- Always dispose of the waste items in the dustbin.
Best time to visit
There is no best time to visit the Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur, the Lord is always ready to bless his devotees. However, on the occasion of Janmashtami, the temple is decorated with lighting and flowers. Visiting the temple on an auspicious day like Janmashtami will be an experience to cherish.
