As soon as you enter the premises a lovely fountain stands tall in all its glory to welcome you. This Mahal also has a small museum and the view from the topmost floor is worth all the money spent. History

The Hawa Mahal is also known as the Palace of Winds. It was used as a summer house by the royal family. It was built very strategically and the most amazing fact is that this tall structure is standing strong without a foundation. Back in those golden days, the royal Rajput women did not come in front of people and they strictly followed the ‘Pardah System’.

This Palace gave them the freedom to sit behind these windows and observe the hustle and bustle in the streets below without being noticed by anyone. The Hawa Mahal, Jaipur allowed them to enjoy the royal processions and witness the mela organized by the commoners. The Hawa Mahal Jaipur ticket prices are INR 50 for Indian tourists and INR 200 for Foreigners, so once you get a chance to visit Jaipur do buy a ticket for Hawa Mahal.

Architecture

The structure in itself is a perfect blend of the Islamic Mughal and Rajput styles of architecture. A certain part of the Hawa Mahal, Jaipur resembles the crown of Lord Krishna. The Mahal was built in 1799 and was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. It is a part of the City Palace. The Hawa Mahal has 953 small windows and each of them is similar to the size of a peephole.

The Ratan Mandir inside the monument has colorful glasswork on the walls and when the sunlight passes through these glasses the area looks breathtakingly beautiful. The structure is currently preserved by the archaeological department and restoration work is done on a timely basis. The exterior of the Mahal may make you feel that the place is fancy and decorative but the interior is very simple yet elegant.
