History
The temple is a part of a charitable society ISKCON, founded by Srila Prabhupada to propagate Krishna consciousness through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. In the year 1978 under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 the ISKCON society registered itself. Years later in 1987, the society became operational. The officials of the ISKCON approached the Bangalore Development Authority in the same year for the allotment of land for the construction of a temple.
The ISKCON temple authorities got allotted a seven-acre hillock with a rock in the middle. Due to the unfavorable terrain of the land, a temporary temple structure was constructed near the allocated site. Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa acting president of the ISKCON temple Bangalore, a qualified civil engineer along with Sri Jagat Chandra Dasa who was an architect himself decided to overcome this predicament.
In the year 1990, the construction of the ISKCON temple began in full swing, and it took seven years of ceaseless hard work by more than 600 skilled artisans to achieve the edifice.
