History
At the age of 17, Neem Karoli Baba was fully aware of worldly affairs and he knew well about the hardships of life. There was a time in his life when he decided to go around the world and spread his ideologies and teachings. His devotees called him by many names and he had supreme powers one of which was that he could be in two different places and that too at the same time.
After he passed away his devotees volunteered to construct the Kainchi Dham. Everything that lead to the construction of the Kainchi Dham was done so positively and purely that it is still reflected in the aura of the temple. The workers recited Hanuman Chalisa while working and also chanted Maharajji ki Jai. While the construction work was in progress the devotees organized kirtans and mantra chanting sessions daily.
It is believed that after witnessing the devotion of the devotees towards Babaji, the construction workers got more dedicated to their work and it is said that this was one of the many leelas of Babaji. He was the one who ingrained the workers with the quality of Vishwakarma. On the 15th of June in 1976 the murti of Babaji was placed in the newly constructed ashram. A lot of prayer ceremonies were held before the Kalash with the remains of Babaji placed in the temple premise.
Architecture
The Kalash that is placed in the Kainchi Dham contains the ashes of Neem Karoli Baba. This temple was constructed in 1974 after the demise of Babaji. There is a Hanuman temple in the Kainchi Dham followed by a statue of Karoli Baba which was placed on 15th June 1976.
The Kainchi Dham is built in a beautiful location surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. The temple in the complex is painted red and yellow whereas the other structures are painted white, symbolizing the beauty and purity of the divine location. The aura of the Dham is very serene and nerve-calming. The flooring of the complex is done using red tiles. Originally Baba built a shed at the place where two renowned spiritual Gurus Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba performed Yagyas and now that is where the Dham stands.
