The history of this palace dates back to when it was built by the Wajid Ali Shah, the Nawab of Awadh in 1847. The palace was an architectural marvel and was considered to be the powerhouse of the Revolt of 1857. However, the British viewed the palace as a threat and decreed its destruction. The ruins of the palace now stand firm exuding the untold stories of India’s fight for freedom.
