History
The beautiful pillars that are the trademarks of this ancient temple of worship are known as Saavira Kambada Basadi. Tribhuvan Tilaka Chudamani Basadi, which means "crown gem of the three worlds," is another name for the temple.
The current architecture was introduced in 1962 after the temple was first designed in 1430 by the then local chief Devaraya Wodeyar. The project took about 31 years to complete, and the end result is the stunning building we see today.
Various extensions, such as the prayer hall and the Manasthamba (a tall pillar in front of Jain temples), were made in the later stages of the building, adding to the temple's beauty. The temple is divided into three levels, the uppermost of which is only open to devotees once a year. It's no surprise that the upper level of Asia's largest and oldest Jain temples is one of its best-kept secrets.
Architecture
The temples' multiple mandapas' are supported by pillars that are a sight to behold! The monuments' awe-inspiring grandeur, as well as the flawless carvings covering them, pique the interest of those who see them.
Visitors can't help but remark how, despite the absence of modern technologists, statues have carved the stones with flawless measures, giving the region a serene harmony.
The carvings on these pillars appear to express many stories and eloquently depict the art and culture of ancient periods, ranging from legendary beasts to Mother Nature's inspirations.
