Coimbatore Overview

Coimbatore is one of the most visited Tourist Destinations in India. It is a major industrial city in Tamil Nadu. The City is also goes by the name of Manchester of South India. History of Coimbatore

The first evidence of this city is found back in 2nd century. Starting from the Cholas, the throne of Coimbatore has been passed to different dynasties such as Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Pandiya, Hoysalas and the Vijanagar rulers. During the rule of Kovan Ruler, the city witnessed many developments in terms of construction. It is during the 10th century when his city faced many developments under Koval king. After the declination of the Cholas, The city came under the rule of Pandayas, followed by Madurai Sultanate, Hoysalas, Vijaynagar, Empire and That Madurai Nayaks and Thajavur Nayaks for the brief period of time. In 19th century after the third Mysore war the city came under the rule of the British.
