The history of this beautiful city takes us back in the period of Mahabharata. It is believed that the city has got its initial name from the Guru Dona or Dronachaarya. The region was presented by Pandavas to their royal Guru as a Dakshina (fee). The region then named Guru-Gram. With the passing of time, the region has got its name Gurgaon. Ruled by many dynasties from Mughal to Maratha to the British the city has faces many changes and several up and down of the dynasties. In 1966 the region came in the governance of Haryana Government.
