History of Hyderabad

According to historians, the city was established by Muhammad Quli Shah in 1591. According to the sources, he had an affair with a local Telugu Courtesan named Bhagmati. He named the city after her – 'Bhagyanagar,' and when she married her and converted to Islam, she took the name –' Hyder Mahal,' Quil Shah, then changed the city's name after her to Hyderabad. The city was ruled by seven kings, which contributed to this city's development in literature and culture.

After Qutub Dynasty came to the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, which dropped in the hand of mighty Mughals, in 1724, the region was freed from the Mughal reign. At that time, Hyderabad declared its first Nizam. Later from 1769, the successor of Asif Jaha ruled the city for more than 200 years till 1948. In that year, the city has got its official language as Urdu that prior was Persian.

During the British, Era Nizams were remained the princely states as they were a faithful ally of the British. Post-independence, the city was announced as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. However, in 2014 Telangana was formed, and Hyderabad became its capital.

Other festivals which are celebrated with equal zeal and pleasure are the Diwalim Deccan festival and Lumbini Festival. Hyderabad Mango Festival is a 3 days festival celebrated every year. More than 300 varieties of mangoes and mango-based items attract hundreds of visitors from different cities. Hyderabad International Film Festival was first launched in 2007 March. It provides a platform for varied works of Telugu cinema. Next year 2008, a short film festival for children is being organized every year in the city.

By Railways:

There are two major railway stations Secunderabad Railway Station and Hyderabad Deccan railway station.
