History
The Bagh-e-Bahu history is worth knowing. The Bagh-e-Bahu has a very beautiful thought associated with its construction. The Raja Jambu Lochan of Jammu was out on a hunting trip. He was passing by when a quiet unique site caught his eyes. He saw a goat and a tiger consuming water from the Tawi River. What left the ruler dumbstruck was the fact that both of them were standing side by side. The message he could decode from this site was an essential one, the peaceful and respectful co-existence. The tiger did not attack the goat although he could in the snap of a finger be done by the goat.
The Bagh-e-Bahu fort is constructed on this very site as the King considered it to be a divine signal to set up the base of his new capital here. The King’s brother Bahu Lochan was the one who looked after the construction of the fort. The forest area has been developed into a well-maintained lush green park known as the Bagh-e-Bahu. The garden is visited on regular basis by a lot of travelers and tourists.
