About Hazratbal Shrine Srinagar


The Hazratbal Shrine is situated on the banks of the Dal Lake in Srinagar and is Kashmir's holiest Muslim shrine and mosque. A relic called the Moi-e-Muqqadas is believed to be sacred hair from Prophet Muhammad's beard and is housed in this silvery-white mosque. It is only on some rare occasions that the hair is shown to the broader public. The Hazratbal Shrine's timings are from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. 

The name of the shrine comes from the Kashmiri language, where Hazrat means 'holy' and bal means 'place'. The Hazratbal Shrine, also known as Assar-e-Sharief, Madinat-us-Sani, and Dargah Shari, is a stunning white marble edifice that is Srinagar's only domed mosque. The Hazratbal Shrine entry fee is free of cost.

History


Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah of the Muslim Auqaf Trust oversaw the construction of this mausoleum, which began in 1968. The building of this white marble structure with a domed roof was completed in 1979. The mosque has a long and illustrious history dating back to the 17th century.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
