History


The chronicle of Kumbhalgarh Fort relocates to the 6th century when it was erected by King Samprati. Due to the lack of an authenticated record, the history of this fort from its origin till the invasion by Alauddin Khilji remains novel. The present-day fort was fabricated in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha of Mewar. The Kumbhalgarh Fort separated the region of Mewar from Marwar. It was also utilized as the place of shelter for the rulers of Mewar at the time of menace. The Fort has played a crucial part in modelling the region's yore. The great King, Maharana Pratap was born in this citadel and the infant prince Udai of Mewar was housed here when the kingdom of Chittor fell under siege.

Architecture

The Fort houses more than 360 temples, out of which 300 are obsolete main temples. The other temples include mostly Hindu shrines namely The Ganesha temple, Charbhuja Temple, Neel Kanth Mahadev temple, Mataji temple, Surya Mandir, to name a few. It took 15 years of meticulous planning and hard work to build this majestic skyscraper that has survived the ravishes of time. The Kumbhalgarh Fort also gives its visitors a breathtaking view of the Kumbhalgarh wildlife sanctuary.

The nearest airport is the Udaipur airport. From there tourists can book a cab to Kumbhalgarh fort which is nearly a 2 hours drive.

Since there is no airport or railway station near the Kumbhalgarh Fort, the closest way to reach the fort is through the Desuri bus station which is located approximately 39.4 kilometres away from the fort and takes roughly 1 hour and 25 mins to reach.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
