History
Moti Masjid, Bhopal was constructed in 1860 by Sikander Jehan Begum, the daughter of Qudusiya Begum. Sikander Begum was a heterodox woman who abolished slavery in society and pioneered the progressiveness of women in the city, the Moti Masjid bears testimony of this. Sikander Begum was known planetary for her nature and was an enthusiastic reformer, open to modern ideas. She is well known for the architectural development in Bhopal.
Architecture
The mosque was constructed in the year 1860. The architectural style of the mosque is mostly Islamic and resembles the Jama Masjid in Delhi. The mosque features a white marble facade with two small cupolas on the top. Due to its gleaming white façade, the Moti Masjid is also known as the Pearl Mosque. There are two dark red towers located on either side of the main building adorned with bright golden spikes that are considered to be a gateway to heaven. Gates, verandas, canopies, the flooring of the building are all made with sandstones and the main hall is made up of white marble. The Moti Mahal harmoniously combines superb architectural methods with beautiful decorative elements.

On a seasonal timescale, the best time to visit the Moti Masjid, Bhopal is from October to February as this is during the winters and hence the weather remains comfortable and serene for tourists to tour the temple. It is inadvisable for anyone apart from the residents of the locality (since they are already acclaimed to the summers in Bhopal) to visit the Moti Masjid during the summers as it tends to get quite hot and uncomfortable. On a daily timescale, it is preferable to visit the Moti masjid before 5:00 PM to avoid the dark as this could cause a bit of difficulty to tourists and visitors navigating around the masjid.
