History


Nagpur's Raman Scientific Centre is a hands-on science center that is associated with Mumbai's Nehru Science Centre. The center was created to foster a scientific mindset, depict the evolution of science and technology and its applications in industry and human welfare, and host science exhibits. The center is named after Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, an Indian physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics. The Raman Science Centre opened on March 7, 1992, and the planetarium began operations on January 5, 1997.

Architecture


In the heart of Nagpur, the center is located across from Gandhi Sagar Lake. The institution received 307,074 visitors between April 1, 2006, and March 31, 2007. The center is a member of India's National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), which is also the world's largest network of science centers/museums under one administrative umbrella. The center is classified as regional level by NCSM and has a total floor space of 4333 square meters. The structure also has a dome at the top and a beautiful garden just outside of the building.

Activities


  • The Raman Science Centre hosts a variety of programs and activities aimed at educating the general public about science and technology. The center now has three interactive galleries, including a 133-seat planetarium, a prehistoric animal park, fun science, and a variety of other activities. Science lectures, science film shows, and three-dimensional science shows are all held regularly at the institution.
  • From time to time, planet watching and other activities relating to celestial phenomena are held here. The centre also has a large library with books about science that are both entertaining and educational. Aside from that, the centre gives possibilities for kids that excel in science. It gives out the Green Finger Award in partnership with the local NGO Hirwai to raise awareness among school-aged children.

  • Weekends and holiday seasons are the worst times to visit the science centre because it is overcrowded.
  • Do not touch anything inside without knowing or without asking the guide. 
  • All visitors must pay to enter the museum, and hours vary during the winter and summer. As a result, guests should double-check the timing before visiting the park.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
