This structure was previously known as the Moti Shah Mahal, but it has since been renamed the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Museum. The structure was constructed during the reign of Mughal monarch Shah Jahan in the 16th century. Later, it was used as a British Cantonment for top army personnel. Rabindranath Tagore, the famous Bengali poet, lived in the building when he was seventeen years old in the 18th century. It was here that he was inspired to write The Hungry Stones, his most renowned narrative.

Between 1960 to 1978, when India gained independence, this edifice was converted into the official residence of the Governor of Gujarat and was known as the Raj Bhavan. In 1978, the structure was transformed into a national memorial honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Mughal architecture can be seen at the Moti Shahi Mahal. It influenced Shahjahan to build the Taj Mahal later, according to historian James Douglas. The palace's four wings, one floor, and centre hall are all marked by four pillars.

• You can see Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's antiques, as well as multiple photographs depicting various stages of his life. 
• Visitors can also see the Indian National Flag that was designed by the Congress government in 1930.

If you want to visit Ahmedabad, the months of November to February are good for touring because the weather is pleasant. The months of March to May are particularly hot. The rainy season is from June to October, which is also a fantastic time to explore the city.

The palace was taken over by the British and converted into a government structure. From 1960 to 1978, the structure served as Raj Bhavan, the official house of the Governor of Gujarat. On the centennial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth, March 7, 1980, it was declared a memorial.
