History


Shaukat Mahal was created as a wedding present for Sikander Jehan Begum in the 1830s. She is Bhopal's first full-fledged female ruler. The royal building Shaukat Mahal is located in the middle of the walled city, near the entrance to the Chowk area. It is one of Bhopal's architectural marvels. It is a nineteenth-century palace created by a Frenchman descended from the Bourbon rulers.

The Shaukat Mahal was built using Gothic and post-resurgence styles, which gives it an amazing appearance. Its architecture is a mix of Indo-Islamic and European Rococo elements. The Shaukat Mahal's roof has several convolutedly carved arches, which, along with the building's alabaster white construction, give it a striking appearance.

Great service and friendly team

Our Rajasthan trip was very unorganized and from day 1 we need to argue for each committed hotel and details. Driver and hotel were not informed in advance and we need to pay 12000/- for the forceful event at the hotel which was never informed to us.
