History
The iconic Taj Lake Palace was built somewhere between 1743 and 1746 under the name of Jag Niwas. This magnificent palace was named after its founder Jagat Singh II, who was also the 62nd successor to the throne of the great Mewar dynasty. To make it easier for the King to worship the Sun God, it was built facing east. The royal descendants of King Jagat Singh II have extensively used the palace as their summer resort and enjoyed the regal hospitality. The Lake Palace was bought by the Taj Group of Industries in the year 1963 and was converted into a luxury heritage hotel.
Architecture
Built-in black and white marble the gorgeous Taj Lake Palace is decorated with ornamented stones and semi-precious stones adorning the walls. Apart from precious stones, there are fountains, pillared columns, spacious courtyards, open terraces, and charming gardens that add to the beauty of this palace. It is artistically furnished with rich and royal antique furniture and beautiful rooms have high arches, frescoes, and stained glass windows that give a proper heritage vibe.
