History
In 1864 the construction of the Soniji Ki Nasiyan began and it was opened for the devotees with the installation of the image of ‘Agnidev’ in the main sanctum on 26 May 1865. The temple was named ‘Siddhkoot Chaitanya’. It was built by the famous Jain Businessmen from Ajmer, Rai Bahadur Seth Moolchand and Nemichand Soni, and therefore it is also known as 'Nasiyan of Seth Moolchand Soni'.
The temple is also known as the ‘Red Temple’ as is it made of beautiful red stone. In the year 1895, the Svarna Nagri was added to the temple building and it popularly began to be called the ‘Sone ka mandir’ meaning ‘gold temple’. This famous Svarna Nagri, known as the ‘City of Gold’, exhibits various gold-plated wooden figures drawing reference to the Jain historical traditions, known to be the main chamber of the temple.
Architecture
Red stone brought from Karauli has been extensively used in the temple construction, which is followed by the typical South Indian style of architecture. The massive gateway, also termed as Gopuram, is the best example of its rich architectural technique. The temple has a total of two stories and is divided into two parts.
One part of the Nasiyan Jain temple comprising the idol of Lord Adinath or Rishabhdev is the worship area, while the other is home to a museum and includes a big hall. The amazing interior of the museum displays the five stages (Panch Kalyanak) in the life of Lord Adinath.
