History

A prince belonging to the Chauhan clan is said to have built the fort in the 8th century. Sapaldaksha is said to have been constructed in the 10th century. The fort gained significance, however, when it was taken over by Prithviraj Chauhan, the then-Maharaja of Delhi, and later when his descendants made it their capital. After Raja Hammir Dev Chauhan's accession in the late 12th century, the Ranthambore Fort became well-known. The Ranthambore National Park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, and it was once a popular hunting area for the Maharajas of Jaipur.

Attempts to take the fort were made by Qutub-ud-din Aibak, Allauddin Khilji, and Bahadur Shah of Gujarat. It was eventually taken over by the Mughals, who used it as a stopping palace before turning it into a prison fortress. It was afterward returned to the Maharaja of Jaipur in the nineteenth century.

Architecture

The amazing Rajput-style architecture of this historical gem makes it stand out. Visitors may be surprised by the fort's interiors. This place's craftsmanship is incredible, and it's difficult to compare it to other old forts or structures from the period. Beautiful step walls, palaces, temples, homes, tanks, pavilions, and cenotaphs surround Ranthambore Fort. The fort's numerous stone walls symbolize the fort's architectural power. The stone for the stonework was shoveled from the fort's inner reaches. Later, the hollow areas were turned into ponds to provide water. The fort also houses numerous ruins and damaged structures, the most notable of which are Hammir Court, Bada Mahal, Dhula Mahal, and Phansi Ghar.

This must-see attraction is a wonderful blend of patriotism, love, and bravery. Bird watching is a popular activity since it allows visitors to see the national park. Even though several conflicts were waged to gain control of the fort, it was extremely difficult to conquer due to its location and structure. Fort has not lost its regal status despite being attacked numerous times. There are several historical and architectural sites worth seeing and photographing at the fort.
