History
There was once a woman named Mamadia Charan who had no children. To procure a child, he made seven trips on foot to Hinglaj Mata. In her dream one night, the Hinglaj Mata asked Mamadiya Charan (Gadhvi) if she wanted a son or a daughter, Charan replied that she should give birth at my home. Seven daughters and a son were born at that residence by Hinglaj Mata's favor. One among them was Aavad Mata, also known as Tanot Mata. In 828 AD, the temple was constructed by Bhati Rajput King Tanu Rao.
During the Indo-Pak War in 1965 and 1971, Pakistan shelled 3000 shots to destroy the temple and the Indian Army. But none of them touched the temple nor the army. This is what the temple is famous for and how the army became the very important maintaining authority of the temple.
Architecture
The Tanot Mata Mandir is white in color. It does not look like a temple in the first view. It is built-in ordinary Rajasthani architecture. You can see a pillar built with brown bricks, in front of the temple. It is the war memorial, constructed as a tribute to the war. The arches of the temple are built in traditional Rajasthani floral style, but simple at the same time. The inside of the temple is adorned with red, thereby representing the color of the goddess.
