Read More on Gau Ghat
History
The ghats, which were originally built as places of sacred bathing and other rites by the Rajput royals, now hold national importance. The Gau Ghat, as it was originally called since the time of establishment, had its name changed to Gandhi Ghat after Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed into the lake from this ghat.
The ghat was originally built by the Rajput royalty but over the passage of years, it has been continually maintained by the royal families of the Rajputs and the Maratha kings.
