Architecture

The Gauri Shankar Temple is located near the main road, just before Naggar Castle. The sight of the Gauri Shankar Temple's exquisitely carved stone shikharas is a delightful surprise. It is one of the oldest temples in the area, located in a paved courtyard beneath the castle. It's a Shiva temple with a lingam in the centre. The temple was discovered during an excavation, according to locals. The ASI is now in charge of its upkeep (Archaeological Survey of India).

Outside the temple, there is a statue of Nandi (the sacred bull), which is a typical example of temple construction in north India. The temple has no roof, thus the numerous temple structures may be seen straight under the sky. The larger temples are devoted to Narayana, while the lesser temples are fashioned completely of stone (an incarnation of Vishnu).
