History
The concept of preserving the almost extinct culture and art forms of Himachal Pradesh emerged as an idea in the mind of officials before 1990. During that time, the work to collect those valuables began. J R Sood, the mind behind the establishment of the museum traveled and researched across the state for the assemblage of such valuables. He succeeded in finding several rare artifacts and antiques. The Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art thus began an exhibition for the public in 1980. This Museum possesses a rare collection of antiques that no other place in Himachal holds.
Architecture
The Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art Manali does not possess a notable architectural style but is a four-storeyed building. The walls of the building are paneled with small brick-like designs. The interior of the museum is complete with ancient Himachal heritage items. There are wide wooden carved door frames and artifacts inside the museum. Therefore it has an attractive appearance inside.
