History
The temple is maintained by the All India Sai Baba Samaj and was founded by Sri Narasimha Swamy in 1952. The temple was built with the help of a rich merchant. Narasimha Swamy was an ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba who initially worshipped a small picture of the great saint under a tamarind tree. Narasimha Swamiji founded the All India Sai Samaj in 1940 and traveled throughout the country to spread the teachings of the great saint Shridi Sai Baba. A spiritual leader, Shirdi Sai Baba motivated people to read holy books and lead an ordinary life.
It is said that Sai Baba was an incarnation of Lord Shiva or Lord Dattatreya. He was considered a great saint by both the Hindus and the Muslims. Narasimha Swamiji started worshipping Shirdi Sai Baba in a house in Nanjunda Rao Colony in Mylapore. With the support of his friend J.D. Pannalal he then constructed the present-day temple.
